About Me
Hello, and welcome to my portfolio! I’m Caroline, a freshman at Brea Olinda High School and a GITA 2 student. Aside from computer science, I am involved in a number of extracurriculars, including marching band and my school’s robotics team. My goals for this year are to get involved in more activities, such as my school’s Lady IT club, which works to get kids at the elementary school level interested in computer science. I would also like to participate in more volunteer service around my community. Looking a bit further into the future, I would like to take more AP classes, join the National Honors Society, and attend a 4-year university (my dream school is UCLA!).

Two things I am very passionate about are writing and computer science. I’ve been exploring both in some form since elementary school, and would love to have a career in either (or both!) fields. Software development and web design, in particular, are areas that I am interested in.
About GITA
The Global Information Technology Academy (GITA) is a four-year computer science program taught at the Brea Olinda High School. The first year of the program is also offered as an advanced course at the Brea Junior High. GITA students learn to work with a number of different languages (such as C#, HTML, JavaScript, and more) through projects and activities that both strengthen their problem-solving skills and understanding of real-world technology. The program includes two AP classes, AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A.

This year I am taking GITA 2, which doubles as AP Computer Science Principles, after having completed GITA 1 in eighth grade. Last year, I learned how to write programs in C# using Visual Studios. I created a number of simple projects and games, including several types of calculators, a computer version of tic-tac-toe, and a multi-level platformer. Now, in GITA 2, I am studying HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and web development. My plan for this year is to focus on the visual design aspects of my work, as well as the functionality; a class centered largely around building websites seems like the ideal place to meet this goal.
